The Social Wellness Club recently hosted an informative workshop entitled “Learn To Age Backwards” where Dr. Charlie Ware delved deep into the secrets of maintaining our vitality as we age. For those who missed it, you can watch the live stream here.
Fight Morning Fatigue
Do you struggle with chronic fatigue? Does the world seem foggy before your morning caffeine fix? You are not alone.
Dr. Ware shed light on a phenomenon most of us are unknowingly complicit in: morning dehydration. He explained, “The brain detoxifies mostly at night, releasing most of its water. That’s why we often wake up needing to urinate.” Instead of rehydrating, many reach for caffeine, which further dehydrates the body.
Sharing a gem from a 96-year-old Japanese master, Dr. Ware revealed a morning ritual practiced for over 40 years where thousands of students simply drank warm water infused with mint leaves and lemon, leaving them refreshed without needing any tea until lunch.
Dr. Ware’s Personal Morning Drink:
- 24 to 32 ounces of warm water
- Grated ginger and turmeric
- Half a squeezed lemon
- Herbs like rosemary, sage, and thyme
- A teaspoon of olive oil
This blend not only ensures hydration but also offers a rich dose of phytonutrients, such as ginger, turmeric, and lemon, which fight inflammation and serve as fuel that curbs hunger.
The Better Energy Source
The conventional wisdom is that our bodies crave sugar for fuel. However, Dr. Ware proposes a paradigm shift: healthy oils, such as olive oil, can serve as a better and more efficient energy source.
Oils have molecular structures that resemble sugar, but they are broken down more slowly by the body. This means that they provide sustained energy without the rapid spikes and crashes that can occur after eating sugary foods.
How to Heal Your Gut Lining
In an engaging conversation with an audience member, Dr. Ware stressed the importance of healing the gut lining. While fasting gives the gut a chance to rest, phytonutrients, found abundantly in herbs like turmeric, sage, rosemary, and thyme, are pivotal for its repair. Incorporating good oils and phytonutrients into your diet not only aids digestion but also ensures long-lasting energy without the constant hunger.
Achieving optimal health isn’t about following every new trend but understanding our body’s natural processes. The starting point should always be hydration and detoxification. Only then can we rejuvenate and rebuild ourselves. By prioritizing these processes, we set ourselves on a path toward better health, vitality, and overall wellness.
